What's the difference?
Nighwear has become a really popular fashion item， used in kawaii fashion from Decora to Lolita， today we're going to learn the difference between a peignoir， negligee， chemise and more!
Nighties (ナイトガウン)
Nighties are made from light cotton， linen， silk or light synthetic fabrics in summer and warm flannel or synthetic fabrics for winter. The most common shape is a loose fitting slip that hangs from a yoke at the chest.
Nighties often have a frill around the hem and embroidery on the yoke.
Many nighties have buttons down the front but most slip on over the head.
Negligee (ネグリジェ)
柔らかい素材を使い、ゆったりとした形でフリルやレースなどの装飾が付いた優雅なデザインとなっているものが多いが、パジャマとの差異はワンピースであるかツーピースであるかという点であり、装飾性の高さで分類されているわけではない。
Negligees are a little like the lingerie of nighties. Most commonly made from soft， sheer or lose hanging synthetic and silk fabrics. Negligees often accentuate the neckline and hang loosely from the waist or hips.

Babydoll (ベビードール)
ベビードールは、他のランジェリーと比較しても、一段と嗜好性が強い衣料で、保護・保温・吸汗などの基本機能よりも視覚的インパクトに重点が置かれる。たとえば、襟や裾などに繊細なレースやフリルを追加し、また胸元やアンダーバストにアクセントになる色のリボンをあしらう、などといった過剰な装飾が行われる。また、胸元に深いスリットを入れて、それを紐やリボンで結ぶようにするなど、ひもパンと同様な扇情的なギミックをもつデザインもある。
身生地としては、セクシーさを強調したものでは、「透け感」を持つ、ナイロン、ポリエステルのシフォンジョーゼットや光沢感のあるシルク、サテン生地などが用いられる。また、可憐さを強調したものでは、フィット感の自然なトリコットやストレッチ天竺などが利用される。
Chemise (シュミーズ)
A chemise or 'slip' is a very simple under garment sometimes used as sleepwear and also worn under dresses. Chemises are most commonly made from silk， satin or other slippery synthetic fabrics in order to reduce friction between layers.
Peignoir (ローブ)
Probably most popular in street fashion is the peignoir! A sheer robe that usually buttons or ties at the chest then hangs loosely. There robes come in many colours and lengths!
